Today's Web Detour: Don's Boss Page Unlike CREST or the New Scientist (see yesterday's detour)Don's Boss Page opens up a quite different angle on the digital revolution. In the host's own words: "Congratulations! You've discovered the only web site designed to protect those surfing the net from their workplaces or classrooms. With Don's Boss Page, all it takes is a quick click of the mouse to turn any Internet-addicted employee into a hard-working, productive member of society." And in the words of a representative of the American Management Association: "We're here for business purposes; not for individual entertainment." You may find this amusing, or you may find it a source of irritation. Be that as it may. We put it before you, however, as an indication of how things are going in this fast unfolding new world. And with the thought that what might be perceived as an annoyance or a menace, may indeed be an opportunity waiting to be discovered.

Today's Web Detour: Harvard Information Infrastructure ProjectThe Harvard Information Infrastructure Project (IIP) was established in 1989 in the John F. Kennedy School of Government, with affiliations to both the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and Center for Business and Government, and of the Harvard Law School. The IIP is intended to provide a neutral, interdisciplinary forum, in both Cambridge and Washington, for addressing a wide range of emerging policy issues relating to information infrastructure, its development, use, and growth. The IIP convenes experts from government, industry, and academia and draws on the perspectives and insights of policy-makers, managers, economists, lawyers, political scientists, and technologists in pursuit of its mission to advance the understanding of emerging issues related to the development of information infrastructure.

From September 25th on Basically the action has now moved over to the other half of the conference at The Center@Hamline, with the exception of the Podium presentations which are still being filed here and can be followed through the main Podium page. Again we suggest that if you wish to follow these issues you take the several (less than five) minutes that are needed to register for that section of our meeting. Easy step-by-step guidelines for this will be found at the Registration Desk.
