_ The Zero Emissions Strategy Conference
Thanks to the generous support of The Center@Hamline of Hamline University in Minnesota (USA) all comments and communications within the conference as of this date will -- to the extent possible -- be channeled through the new discussion panels on our Cyber-Forum. This is a major, a tectonic changes for our conference and while it may be just a bit awkward for you the first time around, the results of a truly interactive forum should more than compensate for this initial trouble. Now, you are going to need a bit of help in getting to the new discussion space the first time around, so we have taken the time to prepare a step by step guide that you will find detailed under Instructions for Joining and Using the Cyber-Forum. If you are feeling calm and comfortable, the whole thing should take about ten minutes. Once you have gone through this routine the first time, the process becomes essentially trouble-free. We are, in fact, trying gradually to make the interface entirely seamless and hence basically invisible to you. But that may take a bit of time yet.
The Cyber-Forum is organized into topics as follows:
- SELF-INTRODUCTIONS (Everybody's starting place: Who you are and why you're here)
- ROAD MAP (Before you go any further...)
- QUESTIONS? LOST in the Cyber-Forum? Looking for Help???
- SUGGESTION BOX
- PODIUM PRESENTATIONS - Commentary & Discussion
- ZERO EMISSIONS - Themes, Variations, Futures
- Z/E CASE STUDIES - Stage III Eco-Efficiency in action
- GENERAL S/D DISCUSSION … More General Sustainable Development Issues

You will find further information which will help put these topics into context in the Cyber-Forum itself.
For various reasons (see Background and Guidelines on Virtual Conferencing and Communications Requirements and the running commentary in the What's New section from the very first days of the project for the gory details) it was not possible to make available a fully interactive discussion platform during the first weeks of the conference. Accordingly, and as strictly an interim arrangement, comments and communications were treated manually. It has been a great deal of work and lacks flexibility, but nonetheless makes an interesting read. The results have been lodged in the six sections listed below. Communications are presented, perhaps incorrectly, with the latest emails to come in placed first. Maybe this should be changed, because if you take the time to scan though them, they really tell a bit of a story. Let us know what you think.
Communications Received in Last Week
Comments from Incoming Participants
Comments Relating to Zero Emissions Theme
Comments Relating to Virtual Conferencing Themes
Commentary on Call for Case Studies
Other Comments and Communications
The fact is that the above now can be thought of as an archive, and while we will maintain it as long as direct emails come in, we are already in the process of shifting 100% of all communications into the new channels. So do take the time to go to Instructions for Joining and Using the Cyber-Forum Discussion Panels so that you can fully profit from these next stages of the conference.
