Remedial Measures and Tools Available to Cities: A first inventory

There is a very very extensive battery of things that can be done to make this approach work. Not all are equally well known in all places, and each one needs to be carefully studied and tailored for its specific operating environment of course. But the means now exist so that you can inform yourself completely and with confidence about what works, how it works, where it works, and what you have to look out for to make sure that it works for you.

This simple first listing of individual measures and tools -- more than 400 in all - is provided here simply as a concrete reminder of the very large number of tools at our disposal in order to make the transition to sustainable transport. As you will note if you read carefully, it is somewhat out of date, having been taken directly from the annex to one of our earlier advisory studies to support the strategic restructuring of the transport sector for the region including Bilbao Spain. These measures are listed in alphabetical order, followed by the reference number assigned in each case which links to the full report: from the broad categories of

By no means? This is just a beginning which is provided here to encourage the reader who may not be familiar with what is going on at the leading edge in the field, that there are a huge amount of tools of many sorts available. No one of these are going to do the whole job. Indeed, most will be at best what we call "2% solutions".
