Introduction: This guestbook has been created in an attempt to gather a broad backdrop of information and views from a wide range of people and groups across the region and beyond, to provide an informed, broad-based citizens' view of the issues and priorities. These results will be incorporated without editing as annexes to support the final reports and recommendations to be prepared in the wake of this first Summit.

This is going to take you something like ten minutes from start to finish. Be a good neighbor, go for it! You will be glad you did. (The Guestbook is being kept open through October in an attempt to secure the broadest possible base of public inputs and directives for the final recommendations.)

Sorry, no time
I'll try to get back to you later
I think this is: ** 1. A great idea
2. A poor idea
3. A good idea but needs more work (See Suggestions)
4. A great idea but merits more aggressive local support
How important is a better, cleaner moblity system for all? 1. Please, there is nothing wrong with what we have
2. Not a high priority
3. Worth closer attention
4. Very high priority for city & province requiring immediate attention
I understand the phrase "car free" really means . . .
(Mulitiple choices invited here)
1. No cars anywhere in city for that Day
2. Partial closures (as examples, public encounter spaces)
3. All cars out of the city forever
4. It is mainly a symbolic call for less pollution, accidents, etc.
5. It is a call for much less car traffic
6. And much better alternative ways of getting around
Why are we not doing better in Toronto?
In my city?
1. It's impossible
2. Every who can should use their car when they want.
3. We have no credible alternative to cars
4. It will take many years to get right
5. We have no clear examples to follow
6. Failure of transportation specialists.
7. No convincing answers from environment advocates
8. Failure of political leadership
9. Failure of citizens to participate & push government to do better
10 Other (See Comments)
Part III. I would like to see about lending a hand 1. Starting now, please get in touch
2. I'll have to get back to you, but it seems important.
3. I just don't have time, but do stay in touch.
4. I am simply not ready for this now.
My views on the necessary transition to New Mobility
(Me included)
1. We need to take responsibility for personal environmental impact.
2. To succeed in this transition, we all need to get involved
3. I understand that progress is made in many small steps
4. I would leave my car in the garage if there were a good option
5. I already have a good option (see under Comments)
6. I would like to walk more (if it were safe, comfortable)
7. I would like to cycle for some trips (ditto)
8. I enjoy contact with other people in high quality transit
9. I am aware of my total costs of owning and operating a car.
10. If there were a good carshare vehicle within 400 m. I would use it.
11. I am willing to experiment to find a better alternative
I have decided to do my own Car Free Day this year
(Please see Do-it-Yourself section on the site)
1. I will start by thinking about it
2. By not taking my car that day
3. By walking my kids to school
4. By grouping my trips and taking family and neighbors
5. Trying seriously to follow what is going on with your project
6. By visiting my local carshare operator and checking it out
7. By throwing a Car Free party and talking about it
8. By writing a letter to the editor
9. By writing a letter of support to mayor_miller@toronto.ca
10. Other (see below under Comments)
Organizing a New Mobility Summit here? 1. I just don't think it would work out here (see Comments).
2. Perhaps it's a bit too early. We're not yet ready for it.
