Step By Step Sign In and Registration Details

(You may find it useful to print out this page so that you can comfortably follow the step by step instructions that appear below. It can be a bit hard to keep them all in your head.)
    1. To join you have two basic options: You can send an email to Sustainability-Politics-subscribe@egroups.com and automatically subscribe.
    2. Or you can fill in the following, which will automatically activate your application to join us.
    Subscribe to Sustainability Politics Forum
    Enter your e-mail address here:
    Message archives here
(If you can think of others who can join our group to the mutual benefit of all concerned, you can use the following from to initiate their application. They will be contacted shortly thereafter with clear instructions as to how to join.)

Once your application has been processed by our robot, you will receive an email with the information you need to enter the private site. It would be very useful when you first enter if you would take a minute to let the other members of the group know something about you and your work. This can be accomplished in a few quick steps as follows.

    1. From the home page (this page), click The Forum link on the menu bar to your left.
    2. There you "Sign in" as shown (if you forgot your password, have a look at the following section).
    3. Click "My Space", then "User Info" up top. Then kindly fill in the four short sets of items as indicated
    4. Be sure to include links to your home page or Vitae -- and it could be very nice indeed if you would add a photo (also via a link) (And if you don't have either already posted somewhere, send it to us by email (one item per email) and we will make sure that it is properly posted)
    5. Under "Default Setting's" (last item on that page) make sure that your Profile is visible to the group
    6. And you will find it convenient to set "Table Size" to 100, which come in handy when you will want to view the members list, messages, etc.
    7. After each edit, make sure you save ("apply").

When that is done you just click "My eGroups", and then click the Sustainability-Politics link, which will bring you right into the our eForum. (And the next time around you will be able to go directly there. You only have to sign in once)

One point that we might usefully make about the Forum that will perhaps not jump at out you, -- is that you have some choice as to how and how often you receive (if at all) the various communications that come into it. You can do that by clicking the top button labeled "Modify", and there under "Read Mode" you will see that you have a choice of receiving (i) all emails, (ii) a daily summary, (iii) a full text digest, or (iv) none at all (with the understanding that you will just drop into the site whenever you wish and have a look at what interests you.

As to why you should go to this trouble, well it's all a matter of teamwork. By doing this you provide the others with handy, one-click user aid and reminder to the others who are joining us here, who are spread out all over the world map and who may not know everyone else in the network at first. (Note: This quick bio facility is not intended to replace the fuller background materials on all members and groups which are filed in the likewise important for the purposes of international team building and which you can access directly below.)

And Now That You Are Signed In.... Next Steps

Now you are in, what about taking a few minutes to get a feel for your working space. The best way to do this is to go to the Help Desk that has been prepared just for these purposes.

    Fast Track

Short on time, but not so short on interest. Once you have finished reading the ten step Quick Start introduction, next go on to the Fast Track. The best way to fit The Commons and its many parts into a crowded schedule.

And What If You Can't Get in, or Forgot Your Password?

    That's simple. Here's the drill.

    1. Just enter eGroups home page at http://www.egroups.com
    2. Where you see, mid-page, the slot to put your email address to register... Don't! Instead click, "Forgot?".
    3. You then just calmly follow the routine, bearing in mind that it will take about two minutes for the robot to send you via email your 'validation number'. (Be sure to check your email to get it.)
    4. From there on in, it's quick. Just follow the several instructions and you are back in and fully registered and ready to go.

Thank you for your patience in this. We know that can be trying, but neither did we learn to read over night.

    Who Else Is Participating

No sense getting involved in any network unless the company is good. Have a look at the Members List to check this out for yourself. And better yet, why don't you take the time to bring one or two other of your strongest colleagues and collaborators into the group? In that way you can be absolutely sure that your time will be well spent.

    Otherwise....

If you have a problem with any of this, you are invited to contact any of the @Forum Support Team. That should do it.
