Carsharing: The last nail in the coffin of old mobility. Why are we supporting a concept that may to some appear to be so off-beat and marginal as carsharing? Simple! We think it's a great, sustainable, practical mobility concept whose time has come. Now in more than 600 cities world wide. Climb in! Let's take a ride. World Carshare is the world's first-stop shop for information, perspective and peer support on carsharing. Carsharing: the missing link in your city's new sustainable transport system. This free, cooperative, independent, international communications program supports carsharing projects and programs, world wide. Since 1997 it offers a convenient place on the web to gather and share information and independent views on projects and approaches, past, present and planned future, freely and easily available to all comers.
Problem Focus: Just in case you are not aware of it, carsharing is already a well proven New Mobility form, with services today active in hundreds of cities world wide. After several decades of experience, failures, successes and continuous fine tuning and upgrades it is safe to say that the product is ready for the market. But . . . The truth is that most cities are not at all ready for the product. The great majority of cities everywhere have an insufficiently strategic understanding of what carsharing is, how it works, and what is needed from its key partners - and most notably those at the level of the city and local government - if it is to make its full contribution to the city and those who live and work there. . Successful carsharing does not do itself. It requires active and informed partnerships, with the city in the lead. > > > Click here to go to the World Carshare Consortium.
