This is where the members of our collaborative international expert network get together in our spare time to brainstorm and swap information, ideas and views on our topic. While participation is by invitation, the list is lightly moderated just to make sure that the exchanges are indeed in line with our busy colleagues' interests.
Welcome to the interactive utilities of World Carshare -- the fully tailored, real-time and absolutely free support service which includes: a ,
, section.
If you intend to participate actively in the collaborative effort, including email exchanges with other group members, kindly read the carefully. In addition we suggest you scan the which provides background and use hints for the functions and utilities offered here.
The Forum offers advantages, but does require care of use and in setting up the first time. In any case if you wish to use it, including gaining access to the Library and the excellent Links & Media sections, you must first sign in. A blank email to WorldCarShare-subscribe@yahoogroups.com -- will do the trick. And should you later wish to remove yourself from the list, a similar blank email to WorldCarShare-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com is all it takes.
Email overload?
No problem. Go to “Edit Membership” on the site and put yourself down for the Daily Digest, preferably in their quite nice “Fully Featured” version. You can also opt for a "Web only" version, which requires that you check in manually to review the latest content of the site.

| Searching the Idea Factory |
Each of the dozen-plus focus discussion groups under the New Mobility Agenda maintains its own extensive message forum, and while most of the participants usually think of them as handy vehicles for one-time mailings, each collection in fact provides a database, often with considerable depth of information, leads and perspectives on its topics. The World Carshare forum, for instance, holds more than three thousand past communications and information exchanges for carsharing. The goal of the Search engine in each case is to see if we can make better and broader use of this stock of information and opinion. Let's have a quick look.
Here are some quick guidelines to help you in your search of the database:
1. Basic display
You have three choices for the basic display, which you can call up by activating the respective links under the "Messages" menu, top left, grouping the items depending upon your individual preference.
- Simple: Shows only the subject lines. This is the most compact view.
- Summary: Shows the subject line and the first part of the message. You can use this to quickly scan the conversation.
- Expanded: Shows each of the messages in full form, on top or each other.
2. Sorting messages:
You can sort all messages by date (in either direction). You can also identify a message if you happen to know its unique message number.
3. Searching by keywords:
For this there are two variants:
Simple:
Thus "road" will call up all postings in which the phrase appears, "Stockholm" ditto, "road-pricing" (don't forget the hyphen, otherwise use quotation marks) calls up all references to the phrase, while "road pricing" and "Stockholm" will call up all postings in which both phrases appear.
Users can include quotation marks (but make sure to actually type the quotation marks rather than copying them from a webpage; "curly quotes" don't work). However, Yahoo! Groups advanced search does not currently recognize Boolean terms, such as "+" , "-" and "OR".
Advanced:
The more complete Search engine explains itself.
