Carfree Times offers a compendium of news and events relating to sustainability, urban planning, global warming, energy supplies, and transportation. Stress is laid on events that have implications for the development of carfree urban areas. Most articles are followed by a few lines of irreverent comments in an effort to lighten the discouraging news that so often must be reported.

Carfree Times also contains news about events at Carfree.com, feature articles by experts in related fields, book reviews, letters to the editor, newly-discovered Internet links, and the like. We endeavor always to cite the original sources for articles. We attempt to hold issues to about 20 screens of text because most of our readers already have too much on their desktops.
