Robert Smith has been one of the quiet forces behind both the National Walk To School Week in Britain and the highly collegial International Walk to School group. His paid job is as Road Safety Officer of the Dorsett County Council. When quiried, here is what he had to say about himself:

"I chair the International Walk To School Committee and also wear the hat of Head of Road Safety, Dorset County Council, England. I'm also the County's Safer Routes To School Project Manager and lifelong supporter of Fulham Football Club, which will mean very little to most people. I'm married with two children, two cars and a cat."
