  • Do you have to get in and out of this very large and complicated website fast, and still make an informed decision? You will probably want a bit of help in this, given the fact that this website is not only an introduction for intending subscribers and partners, but also a major resource in itself, and as luck would have it one of considerable size.

So with this in view, we have tried to develop a handy three-step progress to bring you fully into the program: starting with a Ten Minute Introduction, then moving on from there to what we call the Ultra Fast-Track which you should be able to work your way through in about 20 minutes, and finally on to a third rather more detailed level which is intended for those who really want to wade into the topic already. Let's take them in order:

    Ten minute lightening intro

Three short videos, two pages of text -- at the end of which you should have a good idea if this approach may be for you. In which event we invite you to contine on to the . . .

    Ultra Fast-Track

Okay, you have done the intro and this is starting to look like it may be worth a bit more time? But you are a busy local leader, executive or first time visitor and you need to get into and out of this site in 20 short minutes for your first round decision. We were waiting for you.

Look over to the main left menu under Fast-Track/Ultra-Fast, and work your way down through the handful of links that appear just below. (Careful! Most of the pages on this site have internal menus and links which will take you to more information. But for your first read we suggest you just race by them and stick to the main left menu.)

And if you want to take this further, then click

And now to complete the full Fast-Track . . .

This track has been laid out so as to take you through the most important information and decision points in this site in something like an hour. Minutes which we very much hope you are going to find challenging and enjoyable. Indeed one of the preconditions of this entire project is to make the entire process one that people wish to engage with all of their intelligence and imagination. If you are bored, the old brain just can't do the work.

You have some brief words of introduction on the selected links that appear in the left menu under this heading.

    1. Press release announcing the project: Three pages in all.

    2. Letter to city leaders: The project and the issues as seen from the perspective and priorities of responsible local government. And then once you have done this, to make yourself a cup of coffee, kick up your feet, get comfortable, and spend twenty minutes or so with . . .

    3. "Jump Start": A set of short videos compiled for you in an attempt to point up the universality of the problems of transport in cities, at its worst and eventually at something a lot better than that. For the most part not professional films, but if our topic interests you at all you should find some sharp reminders and brain food there.

    4. The Challenge: Why we are here? Simple the system's broke. Now what? (A bit long admittedly but do give it a whack. It digs into the some important meat of the project)

    5. The Briefs: In a nutshell

    6. Vol. 1, No 1. : The first Brief is treating Carshare Strategies for Cities. (Outlines and working notes).

    7. Editorial panel The distinguished panel that is helping guide and oversee the production of this first Brief.

    8. Future Briefs Work Pad: Here you will see what is cooking in the kitchen for future numbers.

    9. Implementation: Since the Briefs as 'print documents' are only the first step in the much broader process that needs to be engaged to make the necessary on-street changes needed to move your city one step closer to sustainability, we suggest you check out at least the opening page of the Implementation section to get a feel for how this can be made to work in your city.

    10. Partners/Collaboration: This is above all an open partnership project, with the partnership component extending to invitation for collaboration to a range of international groups working in the same broad space of concern (sustainability in all its colors and variants) as well within each city to the groups and interests that need to be brought in to shape the project and ensure its best contribution.

    11. Want to talk about it?: It's 2006 and we communicate in a much more lively fashion when it is important. For example if you have any questions or something you would like to talk over.

    12. Subscribe: Everything you need to know to place your subscription and support the project today.

    Proofs of competence

  • Site Map and Search: Two handy tools in case you get lost in this rather big site or need to find something. You will see the Site Map link always on line in the left menu toward the top. The Search box at the base of the menu should also be helpful
