Lynne Hamill has a BSc from the University of Southampton and an MSc from University College London, both in economics. She was a member of the Government Economic Service for 16 years. During that time she worked on a variety of social and commercial issues for the Department of Health and Social Security, the National Audit Office, HM Customs and Excise and the Department of Transport.

As Deputy Director, she helps run the Digital World Research Centre while developing academic interests in consumer behaviour in relation to new domestic technology and in e-commerce.

She is also a director of Hamill Internet.
